The renovation of Nobelhallen in Karlskoga is now underway. The project, led by NCC in collaboration with Karlskoga Municipality, includes upgrades to the A arena, an extension of the B arena, and the adjacent swimming facility. The total investment is approximately SEK 60 million, and the project is expected to be completed in autumn 2025. At the heart of the technical work is the refrigeration system, with Kylmekano as the contractor and EKA continuing to provide technical support for refrigeration design and dimensioning.
Our scope includes:
Detailed design of the refrigeration system in the A and B arenas
Energy calculations and pressure drop analyses
Comfort cooling for indoor areas and the swimming facility
Integration of heat recovery into the HVAC and swimming facility systems

The goal is an energy-efficient, reliable, and sustainable refrigeration system that supports both elite-level ice hockey and growing youth activities.
We are proud to contribute our expertise in refrigeration design and look forward to following the project through to the completion of the ice arena and swimming facility.
