In memory of Eric Granryd – a pioneer in sustainable refrigeration technology

On 3 February 2025, the Granryd Laboratory was inaugurated at KTH – a laboratory named after Professor Eric Granryd, a pioneer in sustainable refrigeration technology.
For us at EKA, it is also a personal tribute. Our co-founder Jörgen had Eric as his research supervisor and manager during his time at KTH – a period shaped by both technical excellence and warm leadership.
Eric was an early advocate for natural refrigerants and made a lasting impact in both academia and industry. He was a highly respected teacher, research leader and international voice, including through the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR).
At the inauguration, colleagues, researchers and industry representatives gathered to remember a man whose ideas live on – not least in the laboratory that now bears his name.
